Exterior skim coat for ceramic surfaces
Coating system on water-based epoxy resin, suitable for balconies and outdoor areas.
Substrate Preparation
The tiled substrate must be solid, leveled, absorbent, and free from oils, detergents, dust, or other contaminants. The system functions as a vapor barrier. Grind the surface using an orbital machine with Vidiam abrasive tools until the ceramic surface appears matte. Perform thorough dust removal with industrial vacuums. Remove any loose parts and restore missing volumes using PAVIRAPID.
Application
- Apply a coat of ECOFONDO PLUS FIBRATO using a trowel. Product consumption: 1.0 kg/m².
- Once hardened, sand if necessary, then apply a second coat with ECOFONDO PLUS FIBRATO. Product consumption: 1 kg/m².
- Apply FLUIDEPOX smoothed with a trowel, loaded 50% with QUARZO B1, at a consumption of 0.25–0.40 kg/m². While still fresh, broadcast QUARZO B1 at random, 2–3 kg/m², and remove excess unbound quartz the following day.
- After curing, sand to remove any raised ridges. Apply MALTA ES3 with a trowel, colorable with 5% COLORPASTA W. Consumption per coat: 0.70–0.80 kg/m².
- Once hardened, sand again to remove any raised ridges, then apply another coat of MALTA ES3, colorable with 5% COLORPASTA W. Consumption per coat: 0.40–0.50 kg/m².
- Apply a first coat of PAVIWATER TES with a roller, diluted 1:3 with water, at a consumption of 0.05 kg/m².
- Apply a second coat of PAVIWATER TES with a roller, diluted 1:3 with water, at a consumption of 0.05 kg/m².
- Cut the coating along the concrete joints and seal with SIGILFLEX® MS silane elastomer. Since the system is not elastic, it will naturally reproduce any substrate cracks that may form over time.
The resulting coating thickness is approximately 3 mm.
