Smoothing system for humid substrates

Colored trowel-applied system, approximately 1 mm thick, suitable for substrates with rising damp.
The system is based on epoxy resins in water-based emulsion.
The application of two coats of ECOFONDO acts as a “moisture barrier” toward the subsequent resin layers, making the trowel system breathable and suitable for use in areas affected by rising damp from the ground.

Surface Preparation

Concrete substrates must be solid, level, absorbent, and free from oils, detergents, dust, or other contaminants.
Evaluate the most suitable mechanical preparation method: grinding or shot-blasting.

Application

  1. Apply one coat of PAVIWATER T68 with a roller, diluted 1:3 with water, at a product consumption of approximately 0.05 kg/m².
  2. Apply one coat of ECOFONDO, diluted 15% with water, at a product consumption of approximately 0.25 kg/m².
  3. Wait at least 24 hours, then trowel the surface with ECOFONDO, filled 1:0.5 with Quartz B1 and diluted 5% with water, at a consumption of approximately 0.50 kg/m². A smooth steel trowel is used for the application.
  4. Apply one coat of PAVIWATER T68 with a roller, diluted 1:3 with water, at a product consumption of approximately 0.05 kg/m².
  5. Trowel the surface with PAVIWATER, filled 1:0.3 with coarse glass beads and diluted 5–10% with water, at a consumption of approximately 0.20 kg/m². A smooth steel trowel is used for the application.
  6. Apply one coat of PAVIWATER with a roller as a protective surface finish, diluted 10% with water, at a product consumption of approximately 0.13 kg/m².
  7. Cut the coating along the concrete joints and seal with the polyurethane elastomer SIGILFLEX.

The resulting coating thickness is approximately 0.6 mm.

This system produces a rough, non-slip finish. To reduce roughness, an additional coat of PAVIWATER should be applied.
