Substrate Preparation

Concrete substrates must be solid, level, absorbent, and free from contamination such as oils, detergents, dust or other substances.
For newly installed screeds, the normal curing time must be respected.
Assess the most suitable mechanical preparation: grinding or shot-blasting.

Application

  1. Apply by roller a coat of PAVIWATER T68, diluted 1:3 by weight with water, with a product consumption of approximately 0.05 kg/m².
  2. Apply a skim coat of PAVIPLAST W, filled with 20% Quartz B1, with a consumption of 0.40–0.50 kg/m² of PAVIPLAST W.
Use a smooth steel trowel for application.
While still fresh, broadcast Quartz B1 to excess at 2.5–3 kg/m², removing all unbonded excess quartz the following day.
  3. Sand the surface to eliminate the most noticeable irregularities.
Apply a second skim coat of PAVIPLAST W, filled with 20% Quartz B1, with a consumption of approximately 0.80 kg/m².
Use a smooth steel trowel for application.
While still fresh, broadcast Quartz B1 to excess at 2.5–3 kg/m², removing all unbonded excess quartz the next day.
  4. Sand again to eliminate the most evident irregularities.
Apply a third skim coat of PAVIPLAST W, filled with 20% Quartz B1, with a consumption of approximately 0.80 kg/m².
Use a smooth steel trowel for application.
  5. Apply by roller a coat of PAVIWATER in the desired colour, diluted 10% with water, with a product consumption of approximately 0.13 kg/m².
  6. Apply by roller a second coat of PAVIWATER in the desired colour, diluted 10% with water, also with a consumption of approximately 0.13 kg/m².
  7. Cut the coating along the concrete joints and seal with SIGILFLEX polyurethane elastomer.
