System Capable of Dissipating Electrostatic Charges and Preventing Damaging Discharges (ESD)
Colour-coated multilayer system for cementitious substrates free from rising damp, designed to dissipate electrostatic charges.
The system is based on epoxy resins with high-solids formulations, for a total thickness of approximately 2 mm.
The products are modified with highly conductive additives, allowing the creation of antistatic flooring with electrical conductivity properties sufficient to prevent the accumulation of electrostatic charges.
Typical fields of application for antistatic coatings include: chemical, electronic, and mechanical industries (particularly in the presence of AGV trolleys), operating theatres, and all environments where flammable or explosive atmospheres may be present.
Substrate Preparation
Concrete substrates must be solid, dry, level, absorbent, and free from contamination such as oils, detergents, dust, or other substances.
For newly installed screeds, the normal curing time must be respected.
Assess the most suitable type of mechanical preparation: grinding or shot-blasting.
Since the system is non-breathable, the presence of a vapour barrier must be verified; in any case, no rising damp must be present.
A grounding system for the concrete substrate must also be provided, ensuring a resistance between 10,000 and 100,000 Ohm.
Application
- Install grounding points by applying copper strips near electrical panels.
Apply a smooth trowel coat of SUPERCONDUPLAST, filled with 30% Quartz B2, with a consumption of 0.40 kg/m².
While still fresh, broadcast Quartz B2 to excess at approximately 1.5 kg/m², ensuring that all unbonded excess quartz is removed the following day. - Sand the surface to eliminate the most noticeable irregularities.
Apply a smooth trowel coat of SUPERCONDUPLAST, filled with 30% Quartz B0, with a consumption of 0.70 kg/m². - Apply a smooth trowel coat of CONDUPLAST, filled with 50% Quartz B0, with a consumption of approximately 0.30 kg/m².
- Apply by roller PAVIWATER ESD, diluted with 10% water, at a consumption not exceeding 0.13 kg/m².
- Cut the coating along the concrete joints and seal with SIGILFLEX polyurethane elastomer.
The resulting coating thickness is approximately 3 mm.
