COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR A+B

Low yellowing epoxy compound to realize a "depth effect" to decorative surfaces.
Suitable for castings of 2 mm.

Type: Epoxy Compound

ce

Description

Solvent free Epoxy product with very low yellowing, and high gloss. Applied in castings with thicknesses of about 2mm, it hardens without shrinkage maintaining a smooth surface with perfect transparency and deaeration.

Use

"Depth effect" for decorative surfaces.
Low thickness incorporation of artistic elements.

Support

The surface receiving the casting must be solid, dry, not polluted by oils, detergents, powders or other release substances. The temperature of the support must be >15°C.

Preparation of the support

On resinous flooring the perfect adherence of the coating must be verified; If so, abrasive and proceed to application.

In case of casting on wood or porous surfaces, seal at best by applying a coat of COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR TIX.

Application

At the time of application, combine the components in a single container and mix slowly and homogeneously for at least two minutes. Carefully respect the ratio of mixture by weight. Pour the product on the surface to be coated with an optimal consumption of 2 kg/m2 to obtain a thickness of 2mm.Castings less than 1.5 mm thick are not recommended as the surface may show aesthetic defects.

Castings greater than 2.5 mm thick are not recommended, which could compromise transparency. Immediately after casting it is possible to distribute the product on the surface by notched trowel. If necessary, pass the roller to even out the surface and facilitate the deaeration of the system.

COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR can be colored by adding to the mixture suitable inks, compatible colored pastes, powder pigments or metal pigments (as long as they are perfectly dry); translucent or fully covering effects can be achieved.

Reports of use dyes:

  • for "translucent" effects, use up to 1.0% by weight of solvent-compatible inks
  • for "opaque" effects use up to 1.0% by weight of concentrated coloring pastes for epoxy (COLORPASTA EPOX)
  • powder, metallic or other pigments must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis with preliminary tests to test compatibility and intensity of effect

If you want to increase the chemical resistance of the surface, apply a top-coating after sanding with 220-360 grain; after sanding remove dust completely.

Warnings

The coatings of COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR exposed to sunlight may undergo fading or color variations with color change towards yellow: this fact does not affect in any way the performance of the coating. Between different production batches of the same color there may be slight differences: when it is possible to use material from the same batch.
For low temperature applications, the material can be heated to 25°C for easy application and catalysis (viscosity decrease).

Product for professional use, the buyer undertakes to follow the above warnings in the application of the purchased product and the instructions in the safety data sheet.

Before using the product, check that component ''A'' is transparent. The presence of white crystals would indicate a partial crystallization of the product. To eliminate these crystals (reversible phenomenon) heat the component ''A'' in a bain-marie until a transparent liquid is obtained.

COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR applied at substrate temperatures below 15°C could stain in contact with water, or with water-based preparations, and form whitish spots. Such a defect in chemical resistance is caused by incomplete cross-linking. Therefore, COLORSIVIT EPOX CLEAR should be applied at a substrate temperature not lower than 15°C and at least 3°C higher than the condensation temperature.
Coating maintenance For cleaning operations use neutral detergents
